RoboCop is an upcoming 2014 Futuristic American Sci-Fi Action film starring Joel Kinnaman in the title role.
It is a much anticipated remake of the classic 1987 film of the same name and a reboot of the RoboCop film series, making it the fourth installment of the franchise.
Back in 1987, the original Robocop movie debuted at #1 at the box office. This success launched a huge franchise which led to the production of two sequels, various television series, video games and comic books. Entertainment Weekly declared it the #14 Greatest Action Movie of All Time and it was on both Empire magazine’s “500 Greatest Movies of all Time” list and New York Times’ “Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made” list.
The 2014 remake of Robocop follows a story set up in the year 2028, where a multinational conglomerate OmniCorp. who is at the center of robot technology is wanting to bring their controversial cyborg-drone technology to the home front. They see a golden opportunity to do so when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured. OmniCorp. sees their chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer. They envision a RoboCop in every city and billions more for their shareholders, but they never realised one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice!
Directed by José Padilha, the film also stars a stellar supporting star-cast including the legendary Micheal Keaton(Noan, Toy Story 3, Cars) & Samuel L. Jackson(Django Unchained, Avengers Thor) , Gary Oldman(Harry Potter, The Dark Knight Rises), along with Abbie Cornish and Jay Baruchel. Besides exploring some stunning action and VFX sequences, RoboCop also delves into the human drama involved in a storyline following a character that is partially controlled by computers but still has a human mind to feel emotions and make decisions.
This time around be prepared to get even more futuristic in this Sci-Fi Action Drama tale of RoboCop fighting the bad guys.
Distributed by Sony Pictures, the film is up for release worldwide on the 14th of February, 2014.
