With this little wisecrack begins the first trailer of Karan Johar’s production Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and sweeps the viewers off their feet with the celebratory endorsement of life and love by its leading actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Old buddies Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) and Naina (Deepika Padukone) reunite for a trip. At first, he even fails to recognize her, mistaking her for other girls he dated. But once the confusion is cleared, the trip and fun begins.
Joining Bunny on this trip are his good friends Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) and Avi (Aditya Roy Kapoor). For the quartet, it’s a getaway to enjoy life to the fullest, to seize every moment and cherish it as if it is the last.
The viewers are treated to a riot of colours and celebration as the frolicking foursome live it up in the snowy hill stations, discotheques, crowded bazaars, or a Holi jamboree.
The dialogues are worth a notice. In one scene, Ranbir Kapoor tells Deepika Padukone: “Arre soch to sahi, kya handsome bacche honge humare, mere good looks aur…meri akal. But my favourite is when an emotionally vulnerable Deepika confronts Ranbir and tells him, “Agar main tumhare saath do minute aur rahi toh…”, “Toh kya?” Ranbir asks. “Toh mujhe tumse pyaar ho jayega, phirse!” she chokes.
Quite loaded with meaning that one.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is directed by Ayan Mukerji and will hit theatres on May 31.
