Rajkumar Hirani will not direct Munnabhai part three, titled"Munnabhai Chale Delhi". Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has confirmed thedevelopment. Apparently, it was Hirani's everexpanding schedule for "PK" that ledto the decision. He will be replaced by Subhash Kapoor, whose "Jolly LLB" is up for release on March 15.
Says Vidhu, "I have seen Subhash's work and after discussing with Hirani,Abhijat Joshi (screenwriter, "LageRaho Munnabhai") I realised that Subhash has the sensibility and the approachrequired to take the Munnabhai franchise ahead."
The much-awaited third installment of Munnabhai has been going throughconsiderable chop and change. There were speculations that Hirani may not be apart of the film, though he scotched the rumours in an interview in August lastyear.
"I was not happy with the second half of the script. I was suffering awriter's block, you may say. But once the script of "P.K." was out of the way, I was inspired enough to getback to Munnabhai," he hadsaid. Subhash Kapoor will now work on the script put together by Hirani. Butthat is all the change you can expect for now.
Sameer Rao, CEO of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films, assures: "Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi will continue as Munna and Circuit respectively. Kapoor will bedone with his current assignment of "Jolly LLB" byMarch, thereafter he will get into "Munnabhai Chale Delhi"."
The film is expected to go on floors sometime later this year.
